Who's Rory?
Ten years after achieved Master Bridge status in Ireland, he was invited to apply for CBAI Bridge Trainer standing, and after a series of exams, became certified as an Accredited Bridge Instructor by the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland. So impressed were they with his presentation that he was subsequently asked by them to create a course that would teach Bridge teachers the best way to teach.
Rory was President of the Dublin South East Region of the CBAI and, together with Ann Burns, runs the largest Bridge Congress in the country – The Dublin Summer Bridge Congress
Apart from his Bridge career, Rory's wealth of experience in management and communications training is based on his extraordinary life of law, business, broadcasting and journalism.
Having originally studied Law at The Honourable Society of King’s Inns, Rory's business background started when he brought Tie Rack into Ireland. He set up numerous shops throughout Dublin and nationwide, becoming their largest franchisee worldwide. He later set up a made-to-measure shirt business called Custom Store International and grew it to 24 franchises in the UK.
He presented, and later produced, Good Morning Dublin for five years on 103.2 Dublin City FM. He presented a special investigation for Prime Time on RTÉ, writes for the Sunday Independent, the Irish Times’ EFM magazine and has articles published in The Gloss, Magill, Village, Sunday Business Post and many other publications.
He has been a regular contributor on such programmes as TV3’s Tonight Show, RTÉ’s The Frontline, The Late Late Show and Question and Answers and also Newstalk’s Morning Show, Coleman at Large, The Right Hook and CultureShock and even appeared in GoggleBox for three seasons with fellow Bridge player, Martin Brady.
He has worked with many of the most senior people in the Oireachtas, bankers, solicitors, barristers and businessmen and women. He is also the leading expert in Witness Preparation training in Ireland.
